Great news for you, if you are concerned about using natural body and personal care products. Two of JR Watkins Natural Apothecary Products have been certified by the Natural Products Association!

I was surprised to learn the natural product industry is virtually unregulated so having this certification program is great for concerned consumers.

Here’s a quote from the Natural Products Association press release:

WASHINGTON, DC (October 15, 2008): The first health and beauty care products to be certified as truly natural by the Natural Products Association were announced today and are set to hit store shelves in the very near future (go to certified products). Products from Aubrey Organics, Burt’s Bees and J.R. Watkins Apothecary have met the program’s strict criteria and are entitled to display the seal.

The new program, launched earlier this year, will help consumers identify truly natural products amidst the sea of products that claim to be natural, but use synthetic ingredients or are heavily processed. Read the rest.

Watch for updated packaging on our Lemon and Vanilla Shea Butter Body Creams sporting the Natural Products Association seal within the next few months. I’m sure this is just the first and as time goes by more and more Watkins products will proudly display the NPA certification seal.

I put Watkins new Orange Citrus All Purpose Cleaner to the test this past week so I thought I’d share the results here with you. First, I used it to clean our RV so it’s good to go for the winter. Then I hit some tough spots around the house.

My husband used the travel trailer for a week while he was away with his buddies so the orange cleaner got a good work out. The kitchen was dirty and greasy so the stove, counter top and sink got a liberal application and I went to work. Actually it worked like a charm, so I didn’t have to work much! This natural cleaner got rid of the grease and left everything sparkling clean and smelling wonderful. On to the next tough spot, the bathroom! I couldn’t be bothered to run into the house for the Watkins citrus tub and tile cleaner so I used the orange citrus all purpose cleaner in there too. Again it worked like magic to clean the sink, toilet and shower area. Did I mention how good the RV smelled when I was done? Clean and fresh with a hint of orange, unlike before I started!

If all that wasn’t a good enough test, I decide to see how it would do on dirty finger prints on door frames and light switches. Just spray and wipe with a cloth, easy peasy! It worked for the finger prints on cupboard doors and for cleaning my kitchen appliances. The best thing is, no fumes or nasty chemicals and it was gentle on my hands.

Effectiveness - excellent!

Scent - pleasant orange from natural essential oils.

Orange Citrus All Purpose Cleaner is available in a spray and wipe formula and a concentrate in the US. Try it, you find it here in the US catalog or the Canadian catalog. I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I do!
