How to Make Fresh Fruit and Berry Popsicles
Fresh fruit and berry popsicles look and taste amazingly good. Slices of fruit and berries peek through the frozen, transparent fruit juice just begging to be eaten. Who could resist these healthy treats?
Popsicles are a summer time staple and one of the most popular frozen treats you can make for kids and adults. Forget about using artificially flavored sugar water to make them. Instead use fresh fruit, fruit juices or just about anything you can dream up, you’ll soon discover the flavor combinations are endless!
One of the great things about this recipe is you can make them with your favorite fruits and berries or with which ever are in season.
Ingredients
2 cups white grape juice
3 kiwi, sliced thinly
6 strawberries, sliced thinly
18 -20 blueberries
Popsicle molds
Directions
Wash berries and fruit and slice larger fruits. Equally divide fruit and berries between the popsicle molds.
Pour grape juice into each mold to fill to given “fill” line or leaving about 1/4 inch space at the top.
Add popcicle sticks and cover.
Freeze several hours or overnight.
When ready to serve, run a small amount of warm water over mold to loosen the popsicles.
Makes 4-8 popsicles, depending on the size of your molds.
Tips: You can use any combination of your favorite berries and fruits. Blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, kiwis, melons, peaches, mangoes and grapes work well. Just ensure you slice the larger fruits and berries thin.
You can experiment by using lemonade, pineapple juice, apple juice or any other berry or fruit juices instead of grape juice.
You can also use this recipe to make flavored ice cubes to float in punch, lemonade, ice tea or other cold drinks.
