Watkins Meatballs In Barbecue Sauce
Meatballs:
1 pound/454 g lean ground beef
2 tbsp/30 mL Watkins Onion Flakes
2 tbsp/30 mL dry bread crumbs
1/4 tsp/1.2 mL Watkins Garlic Salt
1/4 tsp/1.2 mL Watkins Ground Beef Seasoning
1 egg
Barbecue Sauce:
1/2 cup/125 mL ketchup
1/4 cup/60 mL water
2 tbsp/30 mL Watkins Honey Barbecue Sauce Concentrate
or Watkins Original Barbecue Sauce Concentrate
or Watkins Mesquite Barbecue Sauce Concentrate
1 tbsp/15 mL brown sugar
Combine the first six ingredients mixing well and shape into 1-inch/25-mm meatballs. Place in skillet and cook until browned on all sides;
drain grease if necessary. Combine barbecue sauce ingredients and pour over meatballs. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes.
Serve hot. Makes 10 servings.
Watkins Barbecue Sauce Concentrates are no longer available, unless you can find a dealer who has some in stock. We tried this using Watkins new Barbecue Sauce and it was great, simply omit the ketchup and water in the recipe above. This is a great basic meatball recipe for appetizers or simply make them larger for the main course.
